7th Annual Science Fiesta!
The New Mexico Science Fiesta is one of the state’s largest celebrations of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). The event is a multi-day, community-wide extravaganza that is sure to inspire your curiosity, creativity, and innovation! On the final day of the fiesta, a variety of STEM professionals will gather at Expo New Mexico from 10:00am – 4:00pm to engage in hands-on science and engineering activities for the whole family. Events in the community:
June 11 | Meet a Scientist at Explora: Join us from 10 am – 1 pm for Meet a Scientist. At this event, you will have the opportunity to meet STEM professionals from our community, and participate in fun, engaging activities for the whole family! Confirmed presenters include STEM professionals from the New Mexico BioPark, New Mexico EPSCoR, and STEM in the Burque! This event is free with admission.
June 14 | Tour of FUSE Makerspace: Starting at 6pm, you are invited to take a tour of FUSE Makerspace with the opportunity to engage in a make-and-take activity!
June 17 | Teen Science Café at Explora: Was Benjamin Franklin a man ahead of his time? How has his work impacted our community at large. Teens are invited to join us for an evening of learning more about the inventor and diplomat whose portrait graces the 100 dollar bill. They will also be treated to the music of Mayling Garcia as she plays her glass armonica. Free event!
June 17 | Science in the Courtroom: Tune in to an engaging lecture about how science is handled in the courtroom followed by a Q&A session with the experts!
June 18 | Calculate Pi with NMSU: From 12-1pm, we will calculate the irrational number Pi using random numbers with audience participation. The audience will randomly choose numbers and enter them into a Google Form, and we will use them to calculate Pi together!
June 18 | Science Fiesta Expo at Expo New Mexico: Join us at Expo New Mexico From 10am-4pm to connect with dozens of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) professionals sharing their enthusiasm for learning, science, and the world around us. Engage in hands-on science and engineering activities for the whole family!
